BSPlayer Pro is a media player that supports multiple digital formats. It was initially released in 2000, and the developers claim the software has been downloaded by more than 60 million users. When the developers first created BSPlayer Pro, they wanted it to help people focus on their media content and not on making the app work. They were frustrated by subpar players that required specific codecs and advanced settings to make files work. If this sort of problem sounds familiar to you, BSPlayer Pro might be the ideal solution.

Not only does BSPlayer Pro work with standard media formats like WMV, ASF, AVI, MP3, and MPEG, but it also provides playback of DivX files. DivX files can be a bit finicky, but many users who had DivX files that would not open with any other player had success with the BSPlayer Pro.

Most media players have a single major flaw that was thought to be unavoidable, and that flaw is overusing system resources to perform video playback. BSPlayer Pro does not have this limitation, however, and it only uses about the same amount of system resources as a basic audio player. This means the app can launch quickly as well. If you have an older or slower machine, BSPlayer Pro is an excellent option since it doesn't require powerful processing ability.

The software also comes with an integrated BSMediaLibrary. This organizational system lets you create a library of your media, build playlists from scratch, and change the skin for a more personalized experience. You can go online and download many skins that have been developed by the community, and they are all free to use. If you can't decide on a single skin, download several and alternate between them.

Perhaps the only major flaw in BSPlayer Pro is the hovering design of the menu. The menu is generally concealed until you scroll over it with your mouse. While this seems like it could be a nice function for avoiding a blocked screen with app menus, it becomes frustrating when you're using a second app and listening to something in BSPlayer Pro.

Of course, you can easily avoid using the concealed menu since you can simply drag-and-drop a file onto the playback screen to open it. You can also use subtitles if they are necessary. The software includes a graphic equalizer, and it can be expanded with additional codecs.

BSPlayer Pro is certainly worth considering if you have regular issues getting your DivX files to play in other media players. It's also one of the best options for a streamlined player that doesn't take up much processing power. More mainstream players are far too bulky for older systems, but this player offers the perfect balance of utility and efficiency. The app itself is also exceptionally small, so it won't take up much space on your hard drive.
